Should I run if I am ill? How to return to running after illness. By Lucy Macdonald, Your Marathon Physio

You have woken up with a blocked nose, chesty cough, fever or other signs of having picked up a virus or bacterial infection. Do you go out for your planned training session or do you rest? You desperately don’t want to lose your fitness but equally you don’t want to make yourself worse.

You have had to take some days or weeks off due to illness, how should you return to running?

This video explains how to know when it is safe to continue with your training programme and when not to as well as how to return to running if you have had a period of time off with illness. These are just guidelines, if you are in any doubt don’t run and check with your GP whether you should be running.
