Pre-season training done badly can be at best a waste of time or at worse cause more harm than good.
As a physiotherapist in the Alps I developed a ski and snowboarding specialism by treating the injuries of with amateur and professional skiers. I moved into physiotherapy for snowsports performance and injury prevention and worked with ski trainers and coaches who referred people to me to accelerate improvements in their technique.. I continue to carry out 1:1 ski and snow boarding physio assessments in London which have a 100% satisfaction rating for transforming ability and enjoyment on the mountain.
Welcome to the first of my ski and snow boarding training, injury prevention and ski and snowboarding performance blogs. Please click on the link below to be redirected to the Telegraph websitewhere this blog is published.
Five ski trainig myths busted by specialist Physiotherapist
If you found this useful please watch this space. I will be covering the following topics over the next few weeks: the best pre-season exercises, what could be holding you back on the mountain, quick fixes for your ski or snow boarding technique, tips for swift recovery tips, how to prevent injury and avoid aches and pains, the best kit for avoiding injury. If you have any other suggestions for topics please let me know.
In the meantime please let me know if you would like any further information or would like to book a 1:1 ski or snowboarding assessment with me. The sessions also make a great present for anyone keen to improve their ski or boarding technique and prevent injury. It involves a one hour appointment during which I assess all the movements and muscles required for skiing or boarding, demonstrate and practice exercises with and then email everything as a reminder of what to do.
